4th Quarter Newsletter from the President

This year has really flown by! I have had a great time visiting the Networks around the state. The best part is getting to meet everyone and seeing how the different Networks promote their Strategic Partners and the small touches that make them different. Everyone has been very gracious and welcoming.

In Athens, they put small pieces of paper at the tables for attendees to use as conversation starters and they do separate drawings for Realtors and Partners.. At the Gwinnett Network, they have a power point welcoming new members by name and highlighting their Partners. Metro South has been posting their new members to Facebook using the member’s professional headshot and included some of their Partners in the event I attended. And DeKalb utilized a Model Home to showcase a pocket neighborhood in the heart of Atlanta.

In case you haven’t heard, this year’s Harriet Konter Scholarship award will be a bit different. The Executive committee voted to only have one winner going forward but to increase the Scholarship amount to $1500. This allows the winner to be in Washington to attend the Hill visits as well. We will also be giving the Network of the winner $250 to allow them extra funds to attend the Hill visit as well.

This year the fundraiser for the Scholarship is a 3 night stay at the Marriott Riverfront in Savannah, Georgia. The prize package includes dinner, gift cards, tours, adult beverages and much more. The tickets for the drawing are $20 each and we are only selling 400. Please see a Local Network President to purchase one. The drawing will be December 6th and you don’t have to be present to win.

As we prepare to go to Boston for the National Conference, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has worked so hard to make this year a success. Each Network Leadership Team, the Governing Board Committee Chairs and members, the Executive Committee- this year would not have been possible without each one of you being committed to making Georgia rock! We have a new Large Network,Fayette and a new Mega Network, Savannah. Congratulations to both teams! Since December 31, 2018, our Realtor membership has grown 17%. that is incredible. We also have one Network that is 3 members away from doubling in size since that time, Atlanta. Way to go, Atlanta team.

This has been an awesome year for Georgia and I am so honored to be your President

As the team captain, I’m so proud of our team – We’re already ranked as the 7th largest team participating in the 5K! Let’s see if we can grow those numbers and get ourselves into the top 5. We’re giving away some Women’s Council swag to all of our teammates that morning to add to the festivities!

An Opportunity to Grow with the Women’s Council of REALTORS®

Each of you has a gift to contribute. Please follow the instructions linked below if you would like to be considered for a volunteer opportunity during one of our National meetings. Our state can send up 5 recommendations from the Leadership Identification and Development Committee. In past years, those recommendations have allowed our members to serve on a panel, introduce a speaker, serve on the budget and finance committee, do the inspiration at one of our Governing Board meetings, and serve on Steering Committee.

If you are a graduate of our Leadership Academy, I strongly urge you to apply. If you have served or currently serve in one of our local Networks, I strongly urge you to apply.  Good luck!

Letter from President: 2nd Quarter

Spring is here and sales are hot! The first quarter was a busy one for the Women’s Council. We
had our first Executive Board meeting in January and our first Governing board meeting during
the GAR Inaugural meeting in Atlanta. We did something new this year and invited our Strategic
Partners to the meeting and gave them pins to wear for the year. We also gave them signage
that they can display at any expo they participate in during 2018. We know how valuable they
are to our meeting our goals during 2018!

In March we welcomed our National President, Jo Ann Stevens. In keeping with our tradition of
the last few years, we had a dinner for our Local Presidents and our past State Presidents to
meet Jo Ann and get to spend a bit of time getting to know her. What our National President
didn’t know was that we had a surprise in store for her. We took her to the Porsche Center
where she was able to be driven around the track for some test laps with Porsche’s only female
driver. The other guests got to tour the museum and had the opportunity to try out the simulators and race against each other before our private dinner. Thank you again to Georgia MLS for sponsoring that part of the event. Everyone had a great time trying out their need for speed! The following day, our Local Network Presidents hosted the lunch for the National President. When Jo Ann walked in the room, she exclaimed “You thought of everything! There are even yellow roses!” She told the group that Georgia really raised the bar for visits. Everyone else will have a lot to live up to.

Our Networks also had a busy March. If you missed “Train your Brain for Success” with Robb
Zbierski, you missed a great presentation. This is the kind of content that Women’s Council is
presenting this year- programs that you can’t get anywhere else. I am proud to say that we have
411 REALTOR members as of my writing and more are joining daily. They are seeing the value
of being a part of the 12th largest professional women’s organization in the U.S.

We would love to have you join us in Washington D.C for the mid year meetings. they are being
held at the Washington Hilton, May 17-19. Go to WCR.ORG to sign up. There will be some new
features at this years meeting. We will be voting for our 2019 Officers in May this year to give
our newest leaders more time to prepare to step into their role.

I will be visiting the Local Networks in the coming months. We are starting a new Recognition
program in Georgia this year. My first stop will be at the North Metro event this month on April
19. We will be recognizing our members who are celebrating their 10th year or longer of being a
member of the Women’s Council of REALTORS. We want to thank each of them for their
Loyalty to the Council and we have a special gift for each of you who have reached that
milestone. I hope to see each of you soon.
